Sales Manager – Aluminum / Metals Distribution

A growing and well-established metals distribution and industrial manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead commercial operations and support the next phase of organizational growth.
This leadership role is ideal for a high-performing sales professional with strong experience in aluminum distribution, steel distribution, metal service centers, industrial products, or manufacturing-related sales environments. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution and bring a proven ability to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, improve operational discipline, and lead high-performing teams.
The Sales Manager will oversee inside sales and customer service operations while partnering closely with executive leadership to execute both near- and long-term business objectives. This individual will play a key role in expanding market share, improving commercial performance, and helping scale the organization within competitive industrial and metals markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop sales, account management, inside sales, and customer service teams within a metals distribution and manufacturing environment
- Drive business development, account growth, customer retention, and revenue expansion across aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and industrial metals markets
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with company growth objectives
- Manage key customer relationships with OEMs, manufacturers, fabricators, machine shops, industrial accounts, distributors, and supply chain partners
- Partner with executive leadership on commercial strategy, operational improvements, and scalable growth initiatives
- Establish and manage sales KPIs, forecasting, pricing strategy, pipeline management, and performance metrics
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production, purchasing, logistics, and customer support teams to improve service levels and operational efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence
- Mentor and develop team members while fostering a performance-driven, customer-focused culture
- Monitor aluminum and steel market trends, competitive activity, inventory dynamics, and customer demand patterns
Qualifications
- 10+ years of sales leadership experience within aluminum distribution, steel distribution, metal service centers, industrial manufacturing, or related metals industries
- Strong preference for aluminum industry experience; steel industry experience highly desirable
- Proven track record of driving sales growth and leading commercial teams in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience managing customer service and inside sales functions
- Strong understanding of metals distribution, industrial sales processes, manufacturing operations, inventory-based businesses, and supply chain management
- Demonstrated success building customer relationships and managing strategic accounts
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and team development skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, mid-market environment
- Experience working with aluminum products, steel products, plate, sheet, coil, extrusion, fabricated metals, or value-added processing services is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required based on industry experience
Compensation: $100,000 – $150,000 Base Salary + Incentive
