CNC Machinist / CNC Operator-Programmer

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / CNC Operator-Programmer with hands-on expertise in CNC screw machining and Swiss turning, including Swiss-style / Swiss-type CNC lathes (Citizen, Star, etc.). This role combines advanced machining and programming skills with the ability to provide oversight and guidance to other machinists on the shop floor, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency in production.

The position offers the opportunity to work on precision Swiss machining of small, intricate, tight-tolerance components made from plastics and metals for the medical and aerospace industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, set up, and troubleshoot CNC screw machines and Swiss turning (Swiss-type / sliding headstock) CNC lathes (Citizen, Star).
  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code/M-code) to improve machining performance, cycle times, and accuracy.
  • Perform precision Swiss machining of plastic and metal components, including small-diameter, tight-tolerance, high-volume parts.
  • Conduct inspections using micrometers, calipers, pin gages, indicators, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Provide direction, instruction, and guidance to CNC machinists and operators, supporting training, setups, and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and quality teams to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with medical and aerospace machining standards while maintaining a safe and organized shop floor.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a CNC machinist, CNC operator, or CNC operator/programmer in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with CNC screw machines and Swiss turning / Swiss-type CNC machining (Citizen, Star preferred).
  • Experience with sliding headstock Swiss machines and small-part precision machining strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in CNC programming and editing (G-code/M-code) in a production environment.
  • Background in plastics machining and tight-tolerance, small-component production.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, pin gages, indicators).
  • Proven ability to provide oversight, instruction, or team guidance in a machine shop environment.
  • Familiarity with medical and aerospace machining standards preferred.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $65,000 – $83,000, commensurate with experience
