Inside Sales Representative – Steel Trading

We are seeking an experienced Inside Sales Representative – Steel Trading for the U.S. division of an established international steel organization.

The company operates within the international steel trading and distribution market, supplying steel products to customers throughout North America. This is a fast-paced, office-based commercial role combining inside sales, customer service, account development, quoting, and order management.

Experience within the steel or metals industry is strongly preferred; however, we will also consider accomplished sales and customer-facing professionals from other industries who bring strong commercial experience and the ability to learn a technical product line and market.

Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is required.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities to grow account activity.
  • Handle a high volume of customer inquiries, quotation requests, and orders through phone and email communication.
  • Prospect for and develop new customer relationships within targeted markets.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate product, pricing, availability, and delivery information.
  • Prepare competitive quotations based on material costs, availability, freight, market conditions, and targeted margins.
  • Negotiate pricing, quantities, delivery requirements, and other commercial terms.
  • Process and manage customer orders accurately from quotation and order entry through shipment and delivery.
  • Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, operations, suppliers, and customers to support timely order fulfillment.
  • Communicate product availability, lead times, order status, shipment schedules, and delivery information.
  • Develop an understanding of steel pricing, supply conditions, import activity, freight considerations, and customer demand.
  • Resolve customer concerns involving pricing, product specifications, deliveries, claims, and order discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate customer, quotation, order, forecast, and sales-opportunity information.
  • Contribute to sales, gross-margin, account-growth, and customer-retention objectives.

Required Background:

  • Strong experience in inside sales, account management, customer service, or a related commercial role. Steel or metals industry experience is preferred, but strong candidates from other industries will be considered.
  • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is required.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing quotations, processing and managing orders, and supporting customer accounts.
  • Experience developing customer relationships and supporting account growth.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple customers, quotations, orders, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, energetic office environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP, CRM, or order-management systems.
  • Ability to learn steel products, specifications, pricing considerations, and industry terminology.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous commercial experience within the steel, metals, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or other business-to-business product environment.
  • Experience in international steel or metals trading, steel distribution, service centers, mills, processors, or related metals organizations is particularly relevant.
  • Knowledge of flat-rolled steel products, steel coils and slabs, hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel, galvanized, galvannealed, galvalume, pre-painted steel, and tinplate is valuable.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing customers or working with domestic or international supply chains is desirable.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $80,000–$85,000
  • Annual Incentive: Approximately 20%–25%, based on individual and company performance
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
