Quality Engineer

Davalyn Corporation has been retained to recruit a Quality Engineer for an established industrial manufacturing company in the Greater Indianapolis area.

This is a hands-on position for a quality professional who enjoys working directly with manufacturing operations and solving problems on the plant floor. The Quality Engineer will have broad involvement across manufacturing quality, process improvement, workplace safety, environmental compliance, and supplier/procurement activities.

The position offers more breadth than a traditional Quality Engineer role and the opportunity to work closely with operations leadership while having a direct impact on product quality, manufacturing processes, safety, and supplier performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain the facility’s quality management system, ensuring manufacturing processes and finished products consistently meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Investigate quality issues and nonconformances, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive actions that address underlying manufacturing problems.
  • Work directly with production personnel to identify opportunities to improve process capability, consistency, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Participate in internal, customer, and supplier audits and help maintain the documentation, procedures, and records necessary to support quality requirements.
  • Monitor manufacturing quality performance and use production and quality data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to address incoming material issues, supplier quality concerns, and process-related purchasing requirements.
  • Assist with the evaluation of suppliers, materials, and manufacturing-related purchases to ensure they meet operational and quality requirements.
  • Support facility safety programs, including workplace inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, employee training, and compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with environmental and regulatory compliance, including appropriate handling and disposal practices, documentation, and coordination with outside service providers as needed.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, purchasing, and leadership to resolve manufacturing issues and implement practical improvements.
  • Help develop and update work instructions, procedures, inspection requirements, and other documentation supporting safe and consistent manufacturing operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent hands-on manufacturing quality experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in a manufacturing quality, quality engineering, process engineering, supplier quality, or similar technical role.
  • Experience working directly with production teams in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality tools such as root cause analysis, corrective action, CAPA, 5 Why, 8D, SPC, FMEA, control plans, or similar problem-solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO-based quality systems and manufacturing audit processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, inspection requirements, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Exposure to workplace safety, OSHA requirements, environmental compliance, or EHS programs is beneficial.
  • Supplier quality, purchasing, sourcing, or vendor-management exposure is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production employees, suppliers, customers, and management.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on industrial manufacturing environment and spending significant time on the production floor.

Preferred Manufacturing Background:

Candidates with experience in metalworking, casting, foundry operations, machining, fabrication, forging, heat treating, automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, or other engineered-product manufacturing environments are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Location:

  • Base Salary: $75,000
