A leading metals manufacturing and recycling company is seeking a Production Technician to join its operations team in a fast-paced, high-temperature industrial environment.
This position plays a key role in supporting melting, casting, and finishing operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. It’s an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator or process technician with a strong mechanical aptitude and interest in advancing within a growing metals manufacturing organization.
Position Summary:
The Production Technician is responsible for day-to-day production activities, equipment operation, and process monitoring to meet safety, quality, and production goals. This hands-on role involves working with furnaces, casting systems, and material-handling equipment in a foundry-style manufacturing environment.
Technicians will work closely with supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth operation of all equipment and may assist in process improvement and cross-training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor melting, casting, or forming equipment to maintain production schedules.
- Follow detailed work instructions and safety procedures for all foundry operations.
- Load, charge, and transfer materials using cranes, lifts, and conveyor systems.
- Inspect products for quality, dimensional accuracy, and consistency.
- Assist in equipment setup, adjustments, and minor maintenance.
- Record production data including weights, cycle times, and material usage.
- Communicate process issues and downtime to supervisors and maintenance.
- Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-training and skill development programs.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and comply with safety, environmental, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications / Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in metals manufacturing, foundry, or industrial production operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with melting, casting, or finishing processes.
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, hoists, or other material-handling equipment safely.
- Basic understanding of process controls, temperature monitoring, and production data recording.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a hot, heavy industrial setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
- High school diploma or technical certification in manufacturing, metallurgy, or industrial operations preferred.
Why This Role:
Compensation: $65,000 – $85,000 + Bonus
