Director of Product Management – Factory Automation & Robotics

Our client is seeking an accomplished Director of Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of next-generation factory automation solutions. This senior leadership role requires a rare combination of technical depth in robotics, CNC machining, systems integration, and motion control—paired with the strategic business acumen to drive adoption, scale profitability, and influence the future of smart manufacturing.

As a director-level leader, you will not only shape the product roadmap but also build and mentor a product management team, work cross-functionally with engineering and commercial leadership, and represent the company as a thought leader in advanced automation and Industry 4.0. You will set direction at the intersection of technology, process innovation, and measurable customer ROI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the long-term product strategy and vision for automation and robotics solutions, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives and market leadership.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing product management team, establishing best practices, tools, and processes.
  • Evaluate factory floor operations and partner with systems integrators to design and deliver scalable solutions combining robotics, CNCs, motion control, tool management, workholding, and digital automation platforms.
  • Drive industry adoption of lights-out manufacturing strategies, positioning the company as a leader in unattended, high-precision automation.
  • Translate highly technical concepts into compelling business cases and ROI-driven value propositions for executives, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee development of go-to-market strategies, pricing models, and sales enablement tools that emphasize productivity gains, cost savings, and throughput improvements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams.
  • Establish product performance metrics, profitability tracking, and adoption KPIs to continuously refine product roadmaps.
  • Serve as a visible industry expert and advocate for smart manufacturing and digital transformation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, technical sales, or solutions leadership within factory automation, robotics, CNC equipment, or industrial systems integration.
  • Demonstrated success in setting product vision, building business cases, and scaling automation solutions in industrial markets.
  • Strong technical expertise in robotics, motion control, lights-out automation, and digital manufacturing platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop product management teams and foster cross-functional collaboration at the executive level.
  • Deep understanding of materials, tooling, workholding, and machining processes.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder automation projects that integrate hardware, controls, and software.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, IIoT, and software-enabled automation platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership presence, and ability to influence across technical and commercial teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field; MBA or advanced business training strongly preferred.
