Sales Representative

RS-13076-DAV-2

Bakersfield, CA

Why this role?

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced CNC sales professional who knows machine shops, understands metalworking accounts, and is ready to take ownership of one of Southern California’s most active manufacturing territories. With a strong base salary, an aggressive commission structure, and a clear path for career advancement, this role offers both the stability and the upside that top performers are looking for.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is a recognized leader in advanced manufacturing solutions, supplying precision CNC machine tools, turning centers, multi-tasking machines, and fully integrated automation systems to OEMs, dealers, and tier-one manufacturers. Their portfolio serves high-demand sectors including aerospace, medical device manufacturing, and automotive — industries where tight tolerances, repeatability, and machining accuracy are non-negotiable.

As Territory Sales Representative covering the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas, you will manage and grow a diverse account base of job shops, machine shops, contract manufacturers, and production facilities. You’ll be the go-to resource for customers evaluating capital equipment investments — from standalone CNC turning centers and machining centers to fully automated manufacturing cells — backed by a team of application engineers and integration specialists.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Own the LA and Orange County territory — developing and executing a sales strategy that drives consistent revenue growth across machine shops, job shops, metalworking accounts, and OEM production facilities.
  • Identify, prospect, and close new accounts while expanding relationships with existing customers investing in CNC machine tools, turning centers, multi-tasking machines, machining centers, and related capital equipment.
  • Conduct live machine demonstrations and applications-based presentations, translating complex milling, turning, drilling, reaming, threading, and grooving capabilities into clear business value for shop owners, engineers, and procurement teams.
  • Collaborate with application engineers and automation specialists to scope machine integration projects, including CNC automation cells, robotic loading systems, and multi-axis machining solutions.
  • Leverage your knowledge of cutting tool technology — including indexable carbide tooling, solid carbide end mills, high-speed steel (HSS) cutting tools, diamond cutting tools, and CBN inserts — to position complete machining solutions.
  • Apply understanding of CMM inspection equipment and metrology practices to address customer quality and process validation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity forecasting, pipeline management, and customer activity logging using CRM platforms; provide timely sales reports to regional management.
  • Represent the company at Southern California industry trade shows, manufacturing expos, and dealer events — staying current on advancements in 5-axis machining, EDM processes, and Industry 4.0 automation trends.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Demonstrated success in capital equipment sales, machine tool sales, or a closely related field such as metalworking, cutting tools, or precision manufacturing equipment — ideally with existing relationships in the LA/Orange County manufacturing community.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the machine shop environment: you understand how job shops operate, how purchasing decisions are made, and how to build trust with machinists, shop foremen, and owners.
  • Technical fluency in CNC machining — including multi-axis milling, CNC turning, lathe operations, drilling, reaming, threading, grooving, and EDM — with the ability to discuss process parameters credibly with engineers and operators.
  • Familiarity with cutting tool technologies: indexable carbide tooling, solid carbide end mills, high-speed end mills, CBN/diamond cutting tools, and toolholding systems.
  • Working knowledge of CMM inspection equipment, GD&T, and metrology practices as they relate to machined part quality and customer inspection requirements.
  • Consultative, solution-oriented sales approach with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with CRM software and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the drive to build a territory and the ambition to grow with a company that rewards performance.
