We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EDM Machinist (Electrical Discharge Machine) to join our client’s precision manufacturing team. This position involves setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a variety of Wire EDM, Sinker EDM, and Hole-Popper EDM machines. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and a commitment to machining excellence.

EDM Machinist Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM (e.g., Mitsubishi, Sodick, Makino), Sinker/Die-Sinker EDM, and Hole Drilling EDM equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and CAD files to determine machining paths and tolerances.
• Program EDM machines using controller interfaces (e.g., Sodick LN, Mitsubishi M700, FANUC CNC).
• Troubleshoot machine, control, and tooling issues for optimal accuracy and performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose breakdowns, and execute repairs on Electrical Discharge Machining systems and components.
• Maintain tight tolerances and surface finishes on precision parts in tool & die, aerospace, or medical manufacturing settings.
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and CMM equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers and toolmakers to improve tooling and machining methods.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with EDM machines in a job shop, moldmaking, or tooling environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of EDM equipment.
• Experience with different electrode materials (graphite, copper, tungsten), dielectric fluids, and tool changers.
• Strong working knowledge of EDM programming, setup, and offsets.
• Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Esprit, Mastercam) is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or in small teams.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.

• Wire EDM: Sodick, Makino, Mitsubishi, Fanuc
• Sinker EDM: AgieCharmilles, Sodick AQ, ONA
• Hole-Popper EDM: Current EDM, Belmont
• Controllers: Sodick LN/LP, Mitsubishi M700, FANUC, Agie Vision
