Field Service Engineer

We are partnering with a rapidly growing precision manufacturing company to find a Field Service Engineer with hands-on experience in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)—including Sinker EDM, Wire EDM, EDM hole drilling, or micro EDM. This role is ideal for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys traveling, troubleshooting, and working directly with customers to keep complex manufacturing equipment running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and service EDM equipment (Sinker, Wire, hole drilling, or micro EDM) at customer locations across the region
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and technical diagnostics on high-precision machining systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and CNC control issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational accuracy
  • Train customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and best practices
  • Accurately document service visits, part usage, and customer feedback for internal support teams
  • Travel regionally (~35% overnight) to provide on-site support, including emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance
  • Serve as a technical liaison between the customer and in-house engineering or applications support teams

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience servicing Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) systems—such as Sinker EDM, Wire EDM, EDM hole drilling, or micro EDM
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems, electrical components, and CNC/PLC controls
  • Previous experience in field service, machine technician/repair, machine installation, or equipment maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Familiarity with precision machining, tooling, and metalworking equipment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to represent the company professionally on-site
  • Self-starter with strong time management, organizational skills, and a commitment to solving problems independently
