Our client is a U.S.-based manufacturer operating a network of machine shops and fabrication shops specializing in precision CNC machining and metal component manufacturing. Their facilities are equipped with advanced machine tools, including multi-axis mills, lathes, EDMs, and other production technologies essential for producing high-precision, tight-tolerance parts.
The company serves customers in industries such as aerospace, defense, medical devices, and power generation—where quality, accuracy, and reliability are critical. Their experienced teams deliver custom machining and fabrication solutions for low- to medium-volume production and prototyping needs.
Position Overview
As Vice President of Operations, you will directly manage and mentor several operating company Presidents/General Managers (initially 3–4), with responsibilities expanding as the company grows. This role is strategic, collaborative, and focused on enabling high performance at the site level. You will:
- Drive operational improvements to increase EBITDA margins and capacity.
- Implement automation, process optimization, and supply chain efficiencies.
- Support talent acquisition and workforce development at operating sites.
- Guide capital investment decisions across the platform.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing and collaboration among operating companies.
- Provide hands-on support for sites facing leadership transitions or performance challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead performance improvement initiatives across multiple P&L-driven CNC machining sites.
- Drive operational strategy and execution aligned with long-term growth goals.
- Improve quoting accuracy, shop scheduling, and capacity planning.
- Help integrate new acquisitions and guide cultural alignment.
- Champion a continuous improvement mindset while respecting each site’s autonomy.
- Collaborate with other executive leaders to align operations with financial and commercial goals.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of leadership experience in CNC machining or discrete manufacturing environments.
- At least 3 years of general management/P&L experience in a custom job shop or contract manufacturing setting.
- Expertise in CNC technologies (3-5 axis milling, lathes, EDM, multi-tasking mill-turn, etc.).
- Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) and ERP systems (e.g., Shoptech E2).
- Experience implementing process automation and lights-out manufacturing is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-site or geographically dispersed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred; strong experience may substitute.

Compensation
- Base Salary: $175,000 – $225,000
- Bonus: Performance-based
