Director of Continuous Improvement

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Continuous Improvement to join our team at a high-precision CNC machining facility. This role demands a hands-on leader with a strong background in precision machining, a proven track record in high-tolerance manufacturing, and the ability to drive efficiency and operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and lead continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee and manage a team of 30-40 personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Utilize CNC programming expertise to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve machining processes.
  • Leverage experience with Mastercam, Gibbscam, and Esprit to refine programming capabilities and ensure seamless operations.
  • Drive process improvements in precision machining, grinding, and related manufacturing techniques, focusing on tight tolerance components.
  • Lead initiatives involving Swiss machines, Swiss lathes, Swiss turning, and other high-precision equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational enhancements and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to stringent quality standards, particularly in the production of high-tolerance components.
  • Mentor and develop team members to promote skill enhancement and career growth.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment specializing in precision machining.
  • Proven expertise in CNC programming, including familiarity with Mastercam, Gibbscam, and Esprit.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams of 30-40 personnel effectively.
  • Strong technical background in manufacturing high-tolerance components, including knowledge of tight tolerance machining, Swiss machines, and precision grinding.
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes such as lapping, honing, polishing, and the use of super abrasives, diamond tools, and Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) tools.
  • Hands-on management style with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • A track record of driving measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and operational performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related methodologies.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and familiarity with modern manufacturing software and systems.

Salary:

  • $150,000 – $200,000 base salary
