As a Distribution Center Manager, you will be responsible for managing the efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and transportation activities. You will oversee a team of managers and supervisors, warehouse associates and drivers and various warehouse and transportation plans to help grow the business. The successful candidate will have experience managing a team in the distribution, transportation, or warehouse industry and an eye for continuous improvement.

Warehouse Manager Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct daily supervision of warehouse and transportation employees; management responsibilities include hiring, firing, managing employee performance and providing feedback, training, coaching, mentoring and ensuring employees have the necessary tools and resources to be successful at their job
  • Partnering with department manager to develop an effective and efficient operating rhythm for the warehouse and transportation operations; monitoring progress and achieve operational goals
  • Managing and overseeing all warehouse and transportation operational activities; developing work schedules and assignments, conducting warehouse planning meetings, ensuring physical inventory levels are optimal, assisting in cycle counts, checking outgoing and incoming freight for proper counts and codes, updating records and reports, managing the operation budget, etc.
  • Ensuring all employees adhere to all OSHA and the company’s safety and compliance standards; providing a safe and hazard-free environment for all employees
  • Ensuring all company equipment including the warehouse, delivery vans, and material-handling equipment are in outstanding condition; the facility should be neat and well organized and all vehicles are clean and presentable
  • Partnering with the HR team to ensure all employees are complying to company policies and procedures; working with the respective HR Representative to continuously improve the employee experience
  • Directing and supervising all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion
  • Touring the warehouse regularly and interacting with frontline employees, continuously evaluate operations, and proactively solicit feedback from employees to improve our processes; making recommendations to HR and Regional Operations Managers as needed
  • Coordinating with the maintenance vendors to ensure that a sound maintenance program is implemented and executed for facilities and equipment

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, transportation or logistics environment
  • At least 5 years of management and leadership experience, including hiring, firing and managing employee performance through progressive discipline
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing, and geographically distributed environment
  • Knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), WTS (Warehouse Transportation Systems), VTS (Vehicle Tracking System), VRS (Vehicle Routing Systems) or other Shipping and Receiving systems
  • Strong technical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Data-driven mindset and relentless attention to detail to execute work at the highest level; ability to provide accurate, thorough, and consistent information when accomplishing a task; ability to identify trends and make recommendations from data and analysis
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate effectively with others
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively solve problems, think for themselves and create practical solutions to complex analytical and organizational challenges with little oversight
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects to get things done; ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays
